Father's Day and the City

Today Carlos and I saw Sex and the City 2 (Electric Boogaloo). It was his second time.

You can imagine how packed it was for father's day. I'm surprised we could even get a ticket. *(insert sarcasm here)

The movie was, well, a dog. In its defense, after the first part (that gay wedding! I mean really, wtf? Even a Deus Ex Minelli couldn't save that), it did get a tiny bit better.
But..uh...that's not saying much.

Actually, I think I might have suffered some ocular damage from compulsive eyerolling for 146 straight minutes.

I'd read this review a while back which summed it up perfectly:

"This is an entirely inappropriate length for what is essentially a home video of gay men playing with giant Barbie dolls."
rest here

Actually, I think that's why I decided to see it. Turns out, that's not nearly as much fun as it sounds.

(btw, I found this pic via here today after I noticed he'd (the owner) had started following my own little tumblr blog. I thought it was genius. )

I was sorta cranky with the movie being a loyal S&TC fan; frankly I didn't want them to do a FIRST movie. Leave things alone...go out on top and all that...

In retrospect I was looking for depth in a film that is the very definition of surface. It was kinda vulgar, don'cha think?

For MG to say it's 'vulgar' then surely it's vulgar. Not surrendering my fistful of dollars to have my oculars assaulted. I will spend it other places and get assaulted in other areas.

For Jason to not like it, and not to find something redeeming, then it's all bad, and must be covered with brown paper immediately.

Ditto what Margaret said, especially the brown paper part.

*Turns around scratching kitty litter over S&TC2*

Just that little snippet of the review that inspired you to see it, "... entirely inappropriate..." hahahahaha! Hahahahahah! So true. I'm following him on principle now.

That gay wedding was truly awful. A fitting ending to poor Stanford's story. Or beginning? I'd probably watch a spin-off movie.
