I just found this photo from the mid fifties of a long gone building in the suburbs of N.O. It looks to be some kind of appliance showroom/cum filling station? How cool is this?! Nothing remotely as interesting there now, I'm afraid.

Ooh ooh ooh. Love it! I clicked that link to the photostream & had to look away! Otherwise I'll be sucked in for hours.
I'm sure that a beige vinyl building would look far better than that! Or perhaps a gray cinderblock building with a red stripe. That architecture of yore just can't compare to the beauty of today's bunkers.

I drove by there recently. It's STILL a gas station - a now-shut-down-post-Katrina gas station in front of a shuttered Circle K.
