Sweetie, one of the cats we had when we lived in NOLA was originally named Skeeter. Our neighbor announced he was going to have him put down because the neighbor was tired of taking care of him. I shrieked "Gimme that cat," saved the pussy and promptly renamed him Sam. He was a great, great cat, RIP.
