recent purchases

A big honkin' plastic Madonna. I love anything with a crown. Can't help it. I got it at the thrift store for a steal. Of course, I got the evil eye from the tiny Mexican grandmother who also wanted it but couldn't reach the top shelf. How do you say "¡Losers weepers, baybee!" en español anyway?

My new Dr. Martens boots...purchased at one third off the retail price. They are perfectly new, by the way, pristine, overstock. I wore them the first time today, now that we have a bit of a nip in the air.

It's like I'm back in high school, wearing my Doc Martens again!

They're not fashionable, I know, but they've always honestly been the most comfortable pair of shoes I've ever owned. My last pair was lost in Katrina's flood, alas.
These chafe my ankles but, hey, the heels let me reach that top shelf, right?

I have no doubt you are absolutely no doubt you are just adorable in your new docs. And your crown. But you best look out for them latina grannies. They may be small, but they're scrappy.

When we first moved to El Paso, I knew a little bit of Spanish, but not much. I bought a book that taught me every curse word...some really filthy stuff. We were invited over to our neighbors house to watch the sunset. They are older than we are. Probably in their 60's. I'd been drinking tequila (never a good thing for me)...and they asked if I'd learned any Spanish. So off I went. We haven't been asked back. Maybe I do have a little bit of Tourette's.

MJ always cracks me up!

Much love for DM boots. They still have a special place in my heart, if not on my feet. And yay for the nip in the air!

Jason!

Of course you love anything with a crown. You're a queen at heart! Hahaha, teasing of course....you left yourself wide open for that one!

They are fashionable because they aren't fashionable...if that makes sense.

I've never had either of these, alas.

I've never owned Doc Martens. I'll add those to a growing list of 'things to explore.'

And I would've snagged that MADONNA/child statue as well. Great find!

What a regal Madonna and Child.
I wear Doc Marten mary janes. I couldn't afford them in the 80's (we was po' folk), so I decided to get myself a pair 20 years later.
Here's to nostalgia!
