O

As you've no doubt heard, today came the announcement that Oprah's 25 years of screaming celebrities' names (as gawker cleverly puts it) comes to an end.

In a year.
Great.

So that means a whole year of Oprah this and Oprah that. Non- stop Oprah media saturation. I've managed to safely put her away in the far reaches of my mind for the past 15 or so years. Now, however, (media genius that she is) she'll bully her way front and center again. I don't know if I can take it.

I don't know how you feel, but I can't stand her...haven't been able to for at least a decade or more. Of course, I have to admit you can't really hate someone without having loved them first. But that's long in the past.

Anyway, now that she's leaving a huge vacuum, I'm hoping for a triumphant return of "The Newlywed Game", "Press Your Luck" and even maybe "Match Game" that she dethroned so long ago! How great would that be?

Oprah and Gayle have always made such a lovely couple. Ever since their cross country trip, I've known they were destined to be together.

she lost any and all credibility when she pushed so hard for Obama. She helped dumb Americans elect an ineffective predident and we will all be paying the price for many years to come.

Ugh. My brother's wife was in college through the high late 80's Oprah era. She never missed an episode. Her manner of speech (and logic) became totally infected by the show. Time has largely healed the affectation - but it never completely went away. Again, ugh.

P.S. What's up with anonymous comments? Weak.

I vote The Newlywed Game! Watching every day as a little girl...i think it helped to mold my lascivious thoughts.

Oprah...the sheepherder.

I vote for new game shows and not REMAKES of old tried and true ones.

How about, “Oprah, the game show” ?

Or “Celebrity Torture” ?

Ooh what about a reality game show like, “Help I’m a normal person trapped in a celebrity obsessed culture...Get me out of it” ?

I know, “Celebrity Safari” ?

Anyway,

Oprah, bad.

Game show, good.

I nominate Jason as the new style Game Show Host..ess.

Did you know that The Newlywed Game is back on the air - on GSN?

This season, the show had its first gay couple - none other than George Takei and his partner of 20+ years!

Here's a link to the story:

Carlos and I watched it when it came on. They won!

Ugh, Oprah. When I had my wisdom teeth removed, the dental assistant came in and changed the station from the golf tournament I was watching to Oprah. I was like, 'Are you trying to make this more miserable for me?'

Then the laughing gas kicked in and I became much less ornery.

I'm clearly in the minority here, Jason!

I will actually miss Oprah!

Maybe it's a Chicago thing. I always secretly fantasized that I'd bump into her one day while walking down Michigan Avenue or something. A boy can dream, right?

*sigh*

She's done a lot of charitable things in her lifetime and I think her intentions are good. Is that really a bad thing?

I don't think so IMHO.

Now if you'll excuse me, I'm going to stock up on tissues before for September 2011 arrives.
