I always feel vaguely badly that I'm not wilder about Monty Clift than I am. What with his being a Confirmed Bachelor, a lovely object, and, on top of it all, a genuinely gifted actor, he ought to be my cup of tea from start to finish (and that's without factoring in the whole best-friend-of-Elizabeth thing, too), but no.
Perhaps it's just that he's so neurotic, something I can forgive in the ladies, apparently, but not the gents...

There are a whole group of actors that I don't get. But I do love him in Red Rver.
I think his biggest career mistake was that he never made a comedy.
