Overheard, Saturday



In patrician Southern drawl, one steely haired matron introduces herself to another (in the parlor of the above house):

"It's so nice to meet you. I live in the house where Jefferson Davis died,
you know."

I love those ladies.

In Vicksburg you’re nobody unless you live in house with a cannon ball lodged in the wall somewhere and you have to lead guests around showing it off.
