goddammit, Anna Mae

Last night, about 10, I woke up in a hot sweat.
(No, not from that)

The power was out.
Again.
This morning, after it had come back on, reading the news, listening to the wind rattle my windows, I realized that a good bit of the city lost power with me, even the airport.

Anyway, the good news is that I don't have to go to work today.
woo hoo!
The bad news is, I don't think I'll be able to get out of the house, but I'll try.

Actually, it's rather hurricaney looking out there today for something that's so far South of us.
I shouldn't complain, since my relatives down the bayou have been without power for more than a week still. It may be a month before it's restored. I spent nearly a week in a trailer in the woods without power/AC/phone service/tv last week, and I'm in no mood to repeat that experience. I think I'm still recovering from that.

OMG! Us too! All different parts of Baton Rouge! Ours may be back on already, according to local rumor. But I'm not leaving this air conditioned coffee shop yet.

When I read the title to this post, I thought it was a reference to those old "Time Saver" commercials where two yats named Rosemary and Anna Mae make delicious Time Saver po-boys with lots of "my-nez."

I really miss those po-boys.

My grandmother's name is Anna Mae -spelled exactly like this. Although she lived in NO most of her life she wasn't on the commercials but she did say "mynez". She was a bit of a hurricane herself. And God forbid if SHE lost power! I miss the poboys and Anna Mae. Thanks for he memory, b e r r y!
