We don't have an IKEA here in the wilderness, but we do have a Dollar Tree.
A while back, I discovered that someone, inspired by the (relatively) famous IKEA hacking phenomenon, put together an all too slim Dollar Store Hack website.
Here are some of the best:

Plastic crystalware lighting fixture.

container sconce

ruler placemats

someone is having a good sense of wit and style!
That's pretty darn brilliant.
And, in this economy, I need to start revamping my own creativity and resourcefulness!
Love the Dollar Store too...I must own that crystal chandelier (spelling?)!
Love me some dollar store, too. ;)
It takes WAY more creativity to hack dollar-tree stuff! Love the plastic crystal chandelier. Wonder how long before it melted?

Debra's right, Fendor. Those Walmart-ers are so uppity.
That 'crystal' chandelier idea is genius! Thanks for sharing!

The chandelier and place mats are brilliant too!
Both designs are marvelous especially the second one!
