You know...they say 10 percent of the population is gay but, how much of that population is deaf? A bunch, that's what! They seem to be solely attracted to me and I have on occasion used some of these gestures and other variations of them. My impression is that signing can be like a dialect or something regionally peculiar to the gay deaf population of the South.
The gesture for gay that I remember is licking your pinky and gliding it across your eyebrow.
As a signer of ASL, there are a few problems here.. Some of these are regional signs. And many of these are not signed in 'public' - they have more discrete or euphemistic signs lest others see. Penis is amusing for it has the letter 'P" touching the nose, suggesting again the nose is the penis of the face. No one signs 69 that way anymore; they merely sign 6 and 9 in a fancy flick which is actually far more kinky than the iconic one pictured here.
